Scripture reading should change us. The stories it tells are meant to shape our story. The final step in Bible study therefore requires application. What does the big idea of the story mean for us today, in our culture and our life situations?

Sometimes the flow of ideas in scripture can overwhelm us. As we read many words, the big idea may elude us. By asking, “What did God say?” we seek to express the timeless truth of the story in words that make sense to us.
